REGISTERED PSYCHOTHERAPIST (QUALIFYING)

Joyce is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) who has completed her MDiv in Clinical counselling at Tyndale university. Before pursuing her career as a psychotherapist, she gained several years of experience working with children and youth as a music instructor. Joyce was born and raised in South Korea and came to Canada in 1999. Joyce is fluent in both Korean and English, and she is passionate about working with both first and second generation Korean-Canadians. She Is a compassionate, warm, and empathetic person who enjoys journeying with individuals, young adults, newlywed couples and families from diverse cultural backgrounds. 

 

Joyce is passionate about working with clients who are experiencing life transitions, stress, developmental issues, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, self-differentiation, relationship difficulties, emotional distress, and emotional dysregulation. Her goal is to holistically guide her clients towards emotional, relational, and spiritual growth, as they work towards achieving their therapeutic goals.

 

Approach to Therapy 

Joyce’s approach to therapy is to work collaboratively with her clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. She aims to gain a deeper understanding of her clients’ values so that she can better assist her clients in navigating their life’s challenges.  Joyce utilizes the following evidence-based modalities: family systems, person-centred therapy, relational therapy, and cognitive behavioural therapy. She offers therapy in both Korean and English.
